EMERGE Lake Highlands started as a sister organization to the Moss Haven PTA. Founding parents wanted a way to address the needs of community members in a responsive, agile way. The organization's main goal is meeting the basic needs of students wherever the school or PTA cannot. EMERGE packs food boxes for long school breaks, provides water bottles, backpacks, etc for students and at times, gives larger financial contributions to individual families in urgent need. Started in 2020, the organization has grown over the years to include a broader definition of addressing student needs. EMERGE wants all students to experience Moss Haven in a way that is equitable and inclusive.

• Provide shoes, backpacks, water bottles, coats, binders, lunchboxes and other school supplies to families in need
• Organize a gift card drive where families can donate gift cards to different grocery stores so that our school counselor can help address hunger needs
• Lunch money support
• Send non-perishable food home with students who need it over longer school breaks
• Support the PTA’s annual Angel Tree Community Outreach
• Choir field trip lunches, Sky Ranch scholarship supplement
• Birthday treats
• Breakfast for kids
• Help with library late fees
